Tiffany Stratton, Liv Morgan, Jack Swagger, Alexa Bliss and Austin Theory rank among the youngest winners of WWE’s Money in the Bank ladder match, with Stratton becoming the youngest woman at 25 when she won the 2024 women's match. Several of those victories led directly to championship opportunities, including same-night cash-ins and later title wins.

The Money in the Bank ladder match began at WrestleMania 21, where Edge was the inaugural winner, and served as a WrestleMania staple for five years before the first Money in the Bank pay-per-view in 2010. The inaugural women’s Money in the Bank ladder match was staged in 2017, and both the men’s and women’s variations have produced a range of winners from rising stars to established world champions. Over the event’s history, younger talent has frequently figured prominently in the ladder matches, while past world champions have also sought the briefcase as a route back to the top.

Liv Morgan’s path was built on persistence: after several unsuccessful attempts to dethrone Becky Lynch, she won the 2022 Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. Morgan cashed in the briefcase on the same night that Ronda Rousey had retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Natalya, defeating Rousey to claim her first world championship. The article described Morgan as a popular winner.

"The All-American American," Jack Swagger, who had a stint as ECW Champion in 2009, won his final Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 2010 despite being called a controversial choice. Swagger cashed in the contract the following week on SmackDown, defeating Chris Jericho to become World Heavyweight Champion. His World Heavyweight Championship reign lasted only a few months.

The 2018 women’s Money in the Bank ladder match featured former world champions Alexa Bliss, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Naomi, Natalya and Sasha Banks, and "The Goddess" emerged after pushing Lynch down a ladder to become Ms. Money in the Bank. Bliss had lost the Raw Women’s Championship to Nia Jax at WrestleMania 34, and when the subsequent match between Jax and Ronda Rousey ended in disqualification, Bliss cashed in her contract. Bliss defeated the Irresistible Force to become a five-time Women’s Champion.

Tiffany Stratton won the 2024 women’s Money in the Bank ladder match and became the youngest woman to do so at age 25, breaking Alexa Bliss’ six-year record. Stratton allied herself with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax, attempted to cash in her contract on Jax numerous times but was cautioned not to, and then successfully cashed in on Jax to win the next WWE Women’s Championship on the inaugural edition of SmackDown in 2025. The report called the moment "Tiffy Time."

Austin Theory lost the WWE United States Championship to Bobby Lashley at Money in the Bank 2022 but then competed in and won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match against the likes of Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins and Sheamus to become Mr. Money in the Bank. The piece noted that Theory’s tenure came at the wrong moment, as Roman Reigns was the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and had no plans to relinquish the title anytime soon. Theory cashed in on Seth Rollins for the United States Championship and lost to Rollins, marking the first time a secondary title was involved in a Money in the Bank cash-in.

Women have a 100% success record when cashing in their Money in the Bank briefcase, but they do not keep the briefcase for long. Holding the MITB briefcase has proved to catapult wrestlers to World Championships and has been used by both younger talent and former world champions to secure title changes.
