Oliver Glasner warned he could be the next Nottingham Forest manager to be sacked after his side lost 2-0 at Brentford in a Premier League match on Saturday. He told BBC's Match of the Day: "And if they don't want to follow, then I guess then the sixth manager will come in."

Forest have had five different managers since the start of last season — Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche, Vitor Pereira and currently Glasner. The Austrian was appointed in the summer after leaving Crystal Palace, where he had won the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League in 12 months, and is under a three-year contract; he is just under four months into that deal and has recorded one win from the opening nine league matches this season, with Forest on six points from nine as they enter November 19th.

At Brentford, Forest fell behind to a Nikola Milenkovic own goal before Igor Thiago struck in the 76th minute to make it 2-0. Neither side had a shot on target until Thiago's goal; Forest's only shot on target arrived two minutes after Brentford went two up, and the visitors conceded to a Bees side who had not won in their previous four matches.

Glasner said he had made too many concessions during his time in charge and insisted changes were required. He told Match of the Day: "It's now time not to make compromises, it's now time to show a clear way and everybody has to follow," and added: "Today is completely clear, we have to change something, a few things. I have to change a few things, and I will change a few things, 100%. We can't continue in the same way, we have to change a few things, and that's the key."

The head coach highlighted recurring errors and a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, saying: "We are making too many mistakes, the defence, then we are down. We controlled the game... "It's so obvious... We are slow, making the same mistakes, always different players." Forest have failed to score in five of their nine Premier League matches and in their last five league games only a 1-1 draw at Ipswich has not ended in defeat.

Statistically the season has presented contrasts: against Brentford Forest's expected goals (xG) was 0.85 to the hosts' 0.46, and the club sit fourth in the Premier League for total xG this season on 14.33 while having scored six goals, the fewest in the division. Forest are second only to Manchester United for shots per Premier League game.

Summer signing Liam Delap, signed for £50m from Chelsea according to the article, has one league goal from eight Premier League outings, seven of which were starts; he ranks eighth in the league for shots with 24 attempts and 48 players have more league goals than him this term. These attacking struggles mirror last season's slow start, when Forest also managed a single win in their first nine matches and had five points at the same stage, sitting 18th at that point.

Glasner is thought to be safe for the moment but his position has been described as costly to change, with BBC Sport told by multiple sources that his salary at the City Ground is in the region of £10m a year. He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "We start with hugging. If hugging doesn't work, we try the opposite," and later said on Match of the Day: "The only way is to change it or these things will happen again. That's what we will do."

Forest are 19th in the Premier League and head into next weekend's meeting with leaders Manchester City one point off the bottom, with Glasner promising tactical and personnel changes ahead of that fixture.
