India won 27 medals at the Asian Para Games on October 21, 2026, leapfrogging Iran to reclaim fifth place in the overall medal standings.

The Indian contingent added to a 24-medal haul from Day 2 to push their cumulative total to 14 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze medals. Para-athletics accounted for 21 of the Day 3 medals, underpinning the surge.

Simran Sharma captured her second title of the Games, winning the women's 100m T12 in a Games-record 12.02 seconds. Praveen Kumar topped the men's high jump T44/64 and Sachin Khilari won the men's shot put F46. Ayush Verma took gold in the men's shot put F53.

Dilip Gavit won the men's 100m T47 in 10.69 seconds, narrowly edging teammate Mohammed Morssinganakath Basil, who finished in 10.72 seconds, for a 1–2 finish. Track and field has now supplied 42 medals to India’s campaign.

In para-archery and other disciplines India also reached the podium: Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag claimed silver in the women’s compound doubles. In the pool, Ravi Kartik Budigina earned his second silver in the men's 100m backstroke S13 and Himanshu Nandal took bronze in breaststroke. Kasthuri Rajamani secured silver in para-powerlifting women's 67kg.

Para-badminton added further medals as Krishna Nagar and Sivarajan Solaimalai took silver in the men's doubles SH6. India also confirmed at least three more medals in men's singles SL4, with defending champion Suhas LY, Naveen Sivakumar and Abhijeet Sakhuja advancing to the semi-finals.

China remains clear at the top with 107 gold medals and a total of 226 medals. Japan is second with 100 medals; Japan and Uzbekistan are both on 29 golds with Japan ahead on silver counts. South Korea sits fourth with 15 golds and 46 total medals, while India, Thailand and Iran are level on 14 golds each but India’s 22 silvers place it fifth ahead of Thailand and Iran.

India’s Day 3 haul leaves the nation on 62 medals in total (14 gold, 22 silver, 26 bronze) and reinstates them in fifth place on the Asian Para Games medal table after Day 3, while China maintains its lead with 107 golds and 226 overall medals.
