Inunganbi Takhellambam of India lost the bronze-medal match to Mongolia’s Anujin Uran-Ulzii in the women’s 70kg judo category at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on October 1, 2026. Anujin secured the medal by scoring a Waza-ari after a four-minute contest, delivering the decisive throw at the 3:06 mark.

The bout opened cautiously with Inunganbi adopting a safety-first approach and neither athlete scoring early. A video review altered the scoreboard by awarding Anujin a yuko for a flip, giving the Mongolian a 2-0 lead; Anujin had already accumulated two Yukos before converting the decisive Waza-ari.

Inunganbi reached the bronze-medal contest after beating Nepal’s Punam Shrestha in the round of 16 by ippon and then losing in the quarterfinals by ippon to North Korea’s Mun Song-hui. Song’s progress to the final opened a repechage route for Inunganbi, who advanced through the repechage via a walkover following the disqualification of China’s Jing Tang.

India’s Yamini Mourya also competed earlier on October 1, advancing to the quarterfinals in the women’s 57kg after an ippon victory over Qatar’s Fatena Bu-Qahoos. Yamini was beaten by Mongolia’s Ariunzaya Terbish by yuko in the quarterfinals and then lost her repechage bout to Japan’s Mio Shirakane by ippon, ending her campaign.

In judo, ippon is a move in which a judoka throws their opponent to the mat with considerable force and speed so that the opponent lands on their back, while yuko is a medium-level scoring point awarded for an effective throwing technique or hold-down.

Consequently, India did not secure a bronze in the women’s 70kg event at the Asian Games in Nagoya on October 1, 2026.
