Ismael Bennacer departs AC Milan after seven-year spell

AC Milan announced on Friday that midfielder Ismael Bennacer has left the club by mutual consent, bringing to an end his seven-year association with the San Siro side.

The 28-year-old joined Milan from Empoli in 2019 and went on to make 137 Serie A appearances for the club, figures that include his contribution during Milan's 2021-22 Scudetto-winning campaign.

"AC Milan can confirm the termination of Ismael Bennacer's contract by mutual consent," the club said in a brief statement on Friday. "The Club would like to wish him all the best for the future."

Bennacer has struggled with persistent knee injuries since leaving Empoli and subsequently had spells on loan at Olympique de Marseille and Dinamo Zagreb following those setbacks.

He last featured in a competitive match for AC Milan in 2024.
