Kannur Warriors FC have signed Spanish forward Gerard Artigas and Mizo centre-back Sairuat Kima on August 22, 2026, ahead of the Super League Kerala 2026-27 season. The moves come after the club clinched the 2025-26 season title and arrive under new head coach Andrey Chernyshov.

The additions form part of Kannur Warriors’ effort to build a competitive squad for the upcoming campaign, with the club expecting both players to play key roles. Andrey Chernyshov, who previously managed Mohammedan SC, was confirmed as head coach prior to these signings. The club has framed the new recruits as measures to strengthen both attack and defence heading into the new season.

Gerard Artigas is a Spanish forward who came through the Barcelona youth setup in 2008 and has spent most of his career with clubs in Spain. He featured for IFL side Rajasthan United last season and will join Kannur Warriors to provide another attacking option. The club has cited Artigas’s ability to operate across the frontline, create chances and provide width as reasons for his acquisition.

Sairuat Kima is a centre-back from Mizoram who played for Diamond Harbour FC last season and has represented India at the U-23 level. He was part of the Bengaluru FC squad that won the ISL title in 2019, later featured for Mohammedan SC and made one appearance for Jamshedpur FC. Kannur Warriors expect Kima to add experience, depth and stability to their defensive unit.

Mohammed Sinan was the first signing announced after the club confirmed the arrival of head coach Andrey Chernyshov. The club has since added Uma Sankar M, Manoj S, Jobin Joseph, Asier Gomes, Pragyan Gogoi, Faslu Rahman, Varo Alvarez and Sachin Sunil to further bolster the squad.

Club statements indicate the roster changes are designed to give Kannur Warriors greater depth as they prepare to defend their Super League Kerala title. Management say the new arrivals should help the team maintain a compact structure and increase its chance-creation as it bids to retain the championship.

Artigas and Kima will join Chernyshov’s squad as Kannur Warriors begin preparations for the Super League Kerala 2026-27 season, aiming to defend the crown they secured in 2025-26.
