Leicestershire beat Notts Outlaws by 23 runs at Uptonsteel Grace Road in a One-Day Cup semi-final on 16 August 2026. Hamza Shaikh scored 104 as the Foxes posted 303-7 and secured a place in the final.
Leicestershire reached their second One-Day Cup final in four years after posting 303-7 from their 50 overs. Shaikh's century — 104 off 109 balls — included seven fours and two sixes. The 20-year-old, who joined Leicestershire from Warwickshire a month ago, built a 117-run fourth-wicket partnership with Nick Kelly, who made 53.
Leicestershire finished 303-7 (50 overs), with Kelly's 53 supporting Shaikh's century. Shaikh was eventually dismissed by Liam Patterson-White. Dillon Pennington returned figures of 3-65 for Notts Outlaws.
Notts Outlaws were bowled out for 280 in 49 overs, Freddie McCann scoring 64 and Haseeb Hameed 54. Openers Ben Martindale and McCann had put on 63 in 11 overs before Martindale was trapped leg before by Rehan Ahmed for 43 with his first delivery. A 69-run stand between McCann and Hameed steadied the chase, but a mix-up cost the opener his wicket on 63 as he was run out.
Nineteen-year-old Alex Green finished with 4-40 and removed Kyle Verreynne (43) and Farhan Ahmed in the space of four balls in the 48th over, a spell that effectively ended Notts' hopes. With those wickets, Leicestershire's victory became all but assured.
The first planned Nottingham final in 2020 was wiped out by the Covid pandemic, and there have been five One-Day Cup finals at Trent Bridge since 2021, won by counties regarded as unfashionable. The winners since 2021 were: 2021: GLAMORGAN beat Durham by 58 runs; 2022: KENT beat Lancashire by 21 runs; 2023: LEICESTERSHIRE beat Hampshire by two runs; 2024: GLAMORGAN beat Somerset by 15 runs; 2025: WORCESTERSHIRE beat Hampshire by three wickets.
Leicestershire will meet Middlesex in the One-Day Cup final at Trent Bridge, which will be the sixth final played there since the competition left Lord's in 2019.
