Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets at Lord's to win men's Hundred final
Manchester Super Giants beat Trent Rockets by five wickets at Lord's on 16 August 2026 to claim the franchise's first men's Hundred title, reaching 162-5 in 98 balls while chasing 159 following Rockets' 158-8 in 100 balls. The Super Giants sealed victory with a six from Liam Dawson with two balls to spare.
The final at Lord's attracted a crowd of 27,416 and denied Trent Rockets the chance to win both the men's and women's Hundred titles in the same edition. Rockets had finished top of the table and progressed straight into the final from their last group game on Monday. The Old Trafford-based side had been renamed the Super Giants this season from the Originals and had lost two previous men's finals, including the 2022 final to the Rockets, which remains their sole men's title.
Manchester's chase was set up primarily by New Zealand's Tim Seifert, who scored 72 off 38 balls, hitting seven sixes and four fours; Seifert and Paul Walter added 66 off 31 for the first wicket. The contest tightened in the final phase when, after requiring three from the last nine balls, Mohammad Amir dismissed Heinrich Klaasen and Michael Bracewell and Ben Sanderson bowled two dot balls to leave three required off three. Liam Dawson then struck a six over mid-wicket to finish the job.
Rockets had posted 158-8 after contributions from several batters. Ben Duckett made 31 to provide an early platform, Aneurin Donald scored 38 off 19, Mitch Santner contributed 20 and Lewis Gregory 32. In the space of four deliveries during their innings, captain Sam Billings was run out for seven and Tim David was dismissed first ball by Noor Ahmad; Noor finished with figures of 3-33.
Amir finished with 3-29 for the Super Giants; during Rockets' innings he took the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and Michael Bracewell, with Klaasen superbly caught by a diving Donald on the boundary and Bracewell given out lbw. Jos Buttler's 23 off 14, featuring three sixes, provided a late flourish for Manchester, while Leus du Plooy ended 27 not out as the chase approached its tense conclusion.
Seifert's 72 in the final equalled Will Jacks for the highest individual score in a Hundred final and left him as the tournament's second-highest run-scorer behind Mitchell Marsh, finishing the competition with 394 runs at an average just shy of 50. Across the Super Giants' last five matches Seifert and Walter produced opening stands of 74, 119, 128 and 66, Seifert having been out for a duck in the Eliminator.
The outcome prevented the Rockets from becoming the first franchise to win both men's and women's competitions in the same edition of The Hundred; Manchester Super Giants collected their first men's Hundred crown while the Rockets missed that double feat.
