Marcus Rashford and Benjamin Sesko omitted from Manchester United squad for Stamford Bridge on October 31, 2026

Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a Premier League match on Saturday, October 31, 2026, and Marcus Rashford and Benjamin Sesko were left out of the matchday squad for that fixture.

The game has been described as a must-win for Manchester United, who sit 16th in the league table, and head coach Michael Carrick has overseen the club’s worst start to a league campaign since 1986-87. Carrick is under intense pressure from supporters, although the United hierarchy has, for now, expressed trust in him.

Marcus Rashford, 29, has been managing a hip problem since October; the precise moment the injury occurred has not been disclosed. Carrick had previously said the England international was still feeling discomfort; Rashford was an unused substitute in United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United on October 18 and subsequently missed the matches against Como and Bournemouth. He did not participate in team training ahead of the Stamford Bridge trip.

Benjamin Sesko, 23, is facing a more prolonged absence with a shin injury and is expected to be unavailable until at least January 2027. Sesko missed Manchester United’s pre-season camp because of the shin issue and has not played for the club since the Carabao Cup third-round defeat to Brighton on September 16.

According to media reports, Sesko has avoided surgery but will undergo further medical examinations and has been working with Manchester United’s medical staff and outside specialists. The club continues to monitor his condition while he follows the rehabilitation process with the medical team.
