On September 1, 2026, Ned Luke, the voice actor for Michael De Santa, rejected comparisons between Grand Theft Auto VI and Grand Theft Auto V following the game's Extended Look reveal on Netflix, saying: "This looks nothing like GTA 5. I think they are out of their minds. I’ll tell you one thing, I never looked that good!"

GTA VI drew widespread online praise after the Extended Look, but some viewers began comparing its visuals to those of GTA V. Ned Luke reacted to those clips and publicly pushed back against the similarity claims, making his position clear in the posted response.

Luke said the new footage shows clear visual advances and credited Rockstar with substantial upgrades across character work and environments. He pointed specifically to improvements in character movements, facial expressions, body animation and environmental details.

The coverage also notes broader technical advances in GTA VI compared with GTA V. There is reportedly an increased number of unique NPC animations when measured against both GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Fans have praised additional elements of the upcoming title, with attention given to a more advanced open world, enhanced NPC behaviour and raised environmental immersion. The reporting lists improved AI, more detailed interiors, smarter NPCs, a new wanted and advanced police system, and weather effects as features receiving positive reaction.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
