Mojang confirms post-launch DLC roadmap for Minecraft Dungeons 2
Mojang Studios confirmed plans for post-launch downloadable content for Minecraft Dungeons 2 during Minecraft LIVE: Dungeons II on 2026-09-27, announcing a roadmap of future expansions that will add new locations, enemies and other content.
The studio said the announcement accompanied other reveals at Minecraft LIVE: Dungeons II, including the first new dimension in more than 14 years, new ways for creators to build and news about Minecraft on Nintendo Switch 2; the event commentary also noted that more than 300,000 people play Minecraft for the first time on an average day and that the franchise has 17+ years and 425M+ copies sold.
Mojang confirmed that DLC and expansions are part of Minecraft Dungeons 2’s roadmap and told players to expect substantial post-launch content and updates, but the studio has not released any trailers, exact release dates or further detailed information about the DLC.
The developers described a shift in world design away from the mission-based progression system toward a much larger interconnected world centred around Brave Heaven, where players will explore different regions rather than selecting missions from a menu, a structure the studio said will create opportunities for additional regions to be added via DLC and expansion.
Mojang introduced a new, mysterious dimension called The Sift, which it described as containing unique environments and strange vegetation; enemies in The Sift are corrupted by souls, and defeating those enemies yields souls that can be collected and used to power various artifacts in the game.
The studio also teased that future expansions will not be limited to introducing more threatening mobs, indicating that new resources, equipment and weapons may become available as the game’s world grows beyond launch; developers have not specified the contents of individual DLC packs but said exploration of new areas appears likely to be a major component.
Mojang has not shared release dates, pricing, expansion names or a launch schedule for the announced DLCs, and it said more details — including weapons, resources and gameplay features — will be revealed at a later date.
