Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai win mixed trap gold at Asian Games in Nagoya

Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai won the trap mixed team gold for India at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Wednesday (September 30, 2026), setting a new Asian record in the process. The pair finished atop the final with a score of 34.

The Indian duo had entered the final after qualifying in the fourth position. In the medal round Qatar’s Mohammed Al-Rumaihi and Ray Bassil took silver with a score of 32. China’s Qi Ying and Sun Yunong claimed bronze after firing a score of 23.

The 34 posted by Dhanda and Chenai established a new continental benchmark, surpassing the previous Asian record of 30. The earlier 30 was held in Qatar’s name and had been set in January of this year.

The team gold followed a standout individual performance from Neeru Dhanda earlier in the Games. The medal marks a remarkable end to the Asian Games campaign of the 26-year-old Neeru, who became India’s first woman shooter to claim an individual trap medal at the showpiece with her gold and an Asian record on Tuesday (September 29).

Dhanda and Chenai’s victory completed India’s result in the mixed trap event at the Asian Games. Their final win on September 30, 2026, is recorded alongside Dhanda’s individual triumph on September 29.
