NorthEast United FC extend unbeaten run to five with 2-0 win over Churchill Brothers

NorthEast United FC beat Churchill Brothers 2-0 at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa on Thursday in an Indian Super League fixture. Ethyan González scored in the 16th minute and Antonio Moyano added a goal in the third minute of stoppage time (90+3’) to complete the victory.
The result came in an MG Indian Super League match and moved NorthEast United into a run of five matches without defeat. The win gave the Highlanders three points from the fixture played at PJN Stadium.
González opened the scoring in the 16th minute with a finish using the outside of his boot. The goal sprang from a quick counterattack after a defensive lapse by Churchill Brothers and was set up by an assist from Jithin MS.
Churchill Brothers increased their attacking intensity after the interval, moving forward in numbers as they chased an equaliser. Despite the pressure, NorthEast United retained their defensive organisation and prevented sustained chances that could overturn the lead.
NorthEast sealed the result in stoppage time when Abdul Rabeeh picked out Antonio Moyano, who struck with his right foot; the effort took a deflection on its way in and beat the goalkeeper to make it 2-0. The goal came in the third minute of added time (90+3’), securing all three points for the visitors.
The victory provisionally strengthened NorthEast United's position at the top of the ISL standings, with Mohun Bagan SG scheduled to face Odisha FC in the day's second fixture.
