Pakistan fixtures confirmed for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027

Pakistan will open their ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 campaign against Afghanistan on October 8 in the tournament co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, which runs from October 2 to November 21, 2027. Their group schedule comprises five matches in Group A that will determine qualification to the Super 7 stage.
The 2027 tournament will be the 14th edition of the championship and is being staged across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, marking a return of the event to African hosts after a 24-year gap. Fourteen teams will compete: India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have qualified on the basis of rankings, while South Africa and Zimbabwe qualify as co-hosts. Namibia, as an associate nation, must progress through the qualifiers and the remaining four places will be decided through qualification events.
Pakistan have been drawn into Group A alongside India, Australia, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and the top finisher from the qualifying events. They will play one match against each of those five opponents in the group stage. Pakistan’s first fixture is against Afghanistan on October 8 and their final Group A match is scheduled for October 22 against Australia.
The five group matches will decide which teams advance to the Super 7 round; Pakistan can secure progression with a strong group-stage record. Pakistan will be happy with the group seeding at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Even if they lose to India and Australia, they can still qualify for the Super 7 by finishing third in Group A.
Pakistan won their only ODI World Cup in 1992 and enter the 2027 event seeking a second title. The team have been described in the report as below-standard in recent ICC events and in the last two editions failed to progress beyond the group stage. The article also notes Afghanistan as a threat, having beaten Pakistan in the last ODI World Cup.
Pakistan begin their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on October 8; a third-place finish in Group A would secure their place in the Super 7.
