Former India fast bowler Parvinder Awana was appointed chairman of the BCCI's Junior Selection Committee, the board announced on Friday, October 23. The appointment follows a selection process carried out by the Cricket Advisory Committee and includes three other named members, with a fifth to be added shortly.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), made up of Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, recommended Awana's appointment after an interview process, the board said. "The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) conducted a selection process for the appointment of members to the Junior Cricket Committee. The CAC screened and interviewed applicants and, following the process, recommended the appointment of Parvinder Awana as Chairman, along with Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and N. Arjun Yadav as members of the Committee," the board said in a statement. Krishna Das, Rakesh Patel and Arjun Yadav have been named as the other members.

Awana represented India in two T20 Internationals and took 191 wickets in 62 First-Class matches. He played domestic cricket for Delhi and turned out for India A and Rest of India, while also featuring for Kings XI Punjab, now Punjab Kings, in the IPL. After retiring from playing, Awana moved into coaching, working with Delhi's Under-16, Under-19 and Under-23 teams. His post-playing experience also includes involvement with the India Under-19 set-up and BCCI and Centre of Excellence (COE) high-performance programmes.

Krishna Das was a fast bowler for Assam and Goa and claimed 166 wickets in 49 First-Class matches. He represented India Under-19 and India A during his playing career. Following that, Das took up coaching roles, including positions with the India Under-19 team and Uttarakhand's Ranji Trophy side.

Rakesh Patel represented Gujarat and Baroda in domestic cricket and featured for India A. His playing résumé includes appearances in the Duleep Trophy, Deodhar Trophy and Irani Trophy. As a coach he has worked with Gujarat and Baroda at Under-19, Under-23 and senior levels and was in charge of Baroda's Under-23 team during the 2025-26 season.

N. Arjun Yadav played 83 First-Class matches and represented India A. He was part of India's Under-19 World Cup-winning squad in 2000 and later played for Hyderabad. Yadav went on to coach Hyderabad's senior and Under-23 teams and became a BCCI match referee in 2022.

The committee's immediate responsibility will be to oversee selections for India's junior teams, and the BCCI said a fifth member will be appointed shortly.
