Pornanong Phatlum ends 11-year drought to win fourth Women’s Indian Open in Gurugram

Pornanong Phatlum won the Women’s Indian Open at the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram on Sunday, ending an 11-year title drought on the professional tour and claiming her fourth title in the event.
The 36-year-old Thai was visibly emotional after the victory and had entered the tournament as a sponsor invitee. “This title means a lot to me. I almost retired from professional golf this year but winning again gives me more motivation,” Pornanong admitted.
Reflecting on her final-round performance, Pornanong described the day as exceptional. “I didn’t think I was going to win again but I tried my best. This was a fantastic round for me. Every putt on the front nine dropped in the hole. Today feels incredible. Everything went in and I got up and down really well too. I think they just wanted me to win again,” she added.
India’s Vani Kapoor, who led going into the final day and stayed level before slipping, said she was disappointed but felt she had done all she could. “I gave it my best, my 100 per cent, and everything went according to plan. I don’t think I could have done anything more. I made a lot of birdies, especially considering the amount of pressure there was. I don’t think I would have made so many birdies in a single round before. I made a couple of mistakes too, but that’s part of the game. It’s better to accept it,” she shrugged.
The report was published on October 25, 2026 at 07:32 pm IST and was updated at 07:33 pm IST from Gurugram.
Pornanong said the victory has renewed her appetite for competing: “I feel like I can still play on the tour and I’ll try my best again next year.”
