Pranavi Urs became the first Indian woman to win a golf gold at the Asian Games in Nagoya on October 3, 2026, holding on by a single stroke in the final round. The victory in the individual event played a part in India winning the women’s team silver.

The 23-year-old from Mysore recovered from a triple bogey at the third hole that wiped out a three-stroke overnight lead by recording three birdies in the final round. She shot an even-par 70 in the closing round to finish at 15-under 265 over four days. Her score left her one stroke clear of the field at the conclusion of the tournament.

Pranavi’s result combined with performances from team-mates Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar for India’s team entry. Ashok carded a 67 in the final round and Dagar posted a 77. The two best scores are taken into account for deciding the team medals.

Pranavi’s individual gold was India’s first Asian Games golf gold since the 2002 men’s individual top honours bagged by Shiv Kapur. The report of the result was filed from Nagoya and published on October 03, 2026 at 09:53 am IST, with a photograph credited to X/@OlympicKhel.

India finished the women’s team event at 14-under 546 to take the silver, while China claimed the team gold at 22-under 538.
