Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 in Paris in a UEFA Champions League match on October 20, 2026, while Liverpool recovered to win 4-3 against Villarreal the same day, leaving PSG and Liverpool the only teams with three victories in the competition.

The PSG–Barcelona game featured four goals in the final 20 minutes and ended Barcelona's 11-game winning run; PSG equalled a club record by extending an unbeaten run in the Champions League to 13 matches. Injuries to Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were reported after the match, and there was a visible police presence outside the stadium amid violent unrest across France.

The scoring sequence saw Lamine Yamal level for Barcelona from a narrow angle to make it 2-2 before Vitinha restored PSG's lead and Fabián Ruiz added a further goal to complete a 4-2 scoreline. Désiré Doué and Lucas Hernandez also scored for PSG, while Xavi Espart supplied Barcelona's other goal.

PSG forward Désiré Doué said: “We never feel like we're powerless, or that we're beaten in any way. We always know there's an opportunity as long as the final whistle hasn't gone.” Barcelona coach Hansi Flick commented: “We made too many mistakes in this game, with the ball possession, easy ball losses. This was a great test for us, you saw today in which areas we have to improve to make things better.” Flick added Rodri would play Sunday against Madrid after coming off the bench for the last half-hour.

Liverpool's comeback was driven by 18-year-old Rio Ngumoha, who set up goals for Ronald Araujo, Alexis Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz as Liverpool overturned a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3. Liverpool had been 2-0 down after an erratic start that included captain Virgil van Dijk holding up his hands in apology after his wayward header allowed Georges Mikautadze to score the opener for Villarreal.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Manchester City rebounded from their defeat to PSG with a 5-1 victory over AEK Athens with Erling Haaland left on the bench and Phil Foden scoring a hat trick, his second goal described as the pick of the bunch. Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 with Stuttgart after Julián Álvarez cancelled out Jamie Leweling's opener and midfielder Morten Hjulman made a reckless sliding tackle from behind on Angelo Stiller that left Atletico defending their position.

Scott McTominay scored his first two goals of the season as Napoli beat Bodø/Glimt 4-3, having missed a month earlier after a surgical procedure in early September to treat an irregular heartbeat. Serhou Guirassy netted twice in Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 win over Sabah, a result described as scarcely convincing following a recent loss to Bodø/Glimt and a draw at Union Berlin that allowed Bayern Munich to take the Bundesliga top spot. Pavel Kacor's 90th-minute volley earned Slavia Prague a 2-2 draw with Fenerbahce after Mattéo Guendouzi's defensive error, PSV beat Porto 1-0 for Porto's third loss, and Roma defeated Slovan Bratislava 4-0.

Barcelona's loss ends their winning run and precedes a Clasico against Real Madrid on Sunday, a fixture for which coach Hansi Flick has said Rodri will be available after his substitute appearance.
