Rajat Patidar has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not to consider him for selection in the 50-over format and has withdrawn from the India A squad for the ACC Men's Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha, the BCCI confirmed on Sunday, November 8.

"Rajat Patidar has communicated to the BCCI that he should not be considered for selection in the 50-over format as he manages his existing injuries," the board said in its statement, noting that his decision has removed him from India A’s tournament plans.

Ayush Badoni has been named in the 15-member India A squad as Patidar’s replacement, Rinku Singh has been elevated to vice-captain, and Tilak Varma will continue to lead the side at the tournament, which will be held in Qatar from November 19 to 29.

The updated India A squad includes Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi among the batting options, with Prabhsimran Singh and Kumar Kushagra listed as wicketkeeping options; other selections are Suryansh Shedge, Shahbaz Ahmed, Vipraj Nigam, Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian and Ayush Badoni.

Harshit Rana, Prince Yadav and Arshad Khan comprise the pace contingent named in the squad.

India A have been drawn in Group B alongside Pakistan A, Nepal and the UAE; the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final scheduled for November 29.

Patidar’s decision follows a run of injury problems in recent seasons: a left-knee issue disrupted his domestic campaign in October 2025 and he sustained a finger injury during IPL 2025. The BCCI has not specified which injuries he is currently managing or provided a recovery timeline.

India A will open their Group B campaign against Nepal on November 20, followed by matches against Pakistan A on November 22 and the UAE on November 24.
