Tamil Nadu will travel to the Sector-16 Stadium to meet Chandigarh in an Elite Group D Ranji Trophy fixture starting on Monday, the fourth round of the 2026-27 competition. Tamil Nadu sit second on the table with 14 points from three matches, while Chandigarh are seventh with one point from three matches.

After a subdued season opener against Rajasthan in Jaipur, Tamil Nadu recovered with back-to-back wins over Uttarakhand and Railways in Chennai. Sai Kishore’s Tamil Nadu has 14 points from three matches and remain on the road following those home victories. The southern side has not yet posted a score above 350 this campaign.

The pitch used by Chandigarh in their previous match against Himachal Pradesh produced heavy scoring: 1,244 runs were racked up for the loss of just 11 wickets. If the hosts prepare a similar surface for the Sector-16 encounter, Tamil Nadu will face a batter-friendly track that could blunt conventional bowling plans.

Head coach Yo Mahesh said his players would aim for a full victory and adjust if necessary, noting: "Regardless of the pitch, our bowling attack's goal is to take 20 wickets. If it is too flat, we will have to change our plans and combination," Yo Mahesh told The Hindu. The side could also consider targeting a first-innings lead to secure three points if conditions dictate.

Manan Vohra leads a Chandigarh side that has yet to register a win in the competition and will require a major turnaround to climb the standings. The hosts' recent form and surface choice will be central to their chances against a Tamil Nadu unit aiming to complete a hat-trick of wins.

The fourth-round clash at the Sector-16 Stadium from Monday is the final match for both teams before the Ranji Trophy takes a scheduled break.
