Real Madrid complete signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig on seven-year deal

Real Madrid have completed a deal to bring Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande to the Santiago Bernabeu from RB Leipzig, the Spanish club confirmed on Thursday, August 6, 2026. Neither club disclosed the financial terms of the transfer.

Spanish media reports suggest the fee could rise to 125 million Euros (144.3 million US dollars), with a further 10-15 million Euros linked to performance-related bonuses; if accurate, that would make Diomande the most expensive signing in Real Madrid's history, eclipsing the fee paid for Jude Bellingham in 2023. "Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the transfer of Yan Diomande, who will be under contract with our club for the next seven seasons, through June 30, 2033," the LaLiga club said in a statement.

Diomande, 19, produced 12 Bundesliga goals and nine assists in his debut campaign in Germany as RB Leipzig finished third and secured qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League. Those numbers were recorded during his first season with Leipzig after arriving last year.

He moved to Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes and quickly established himself as one of Europe's brightest young attackers. Diomande also featured for Ivory Coast at the recent FIFA World Cup, where the African nation advanced to the Round of 32.

His performances at the World Cup drew reported interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain among other clubs. That international exposure was cited in reports linking him to multiple suitors before Real Madrid completed the transfer.

The signing is the latest move in a squad overhaul under Jose Mourinho, who returned for a second stint as manager in June after the club endured a frustrating campaign. Los Blancos finished second behind Barcelona in LaLiga and were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Ahead of the new season, Real Madrid have also added Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries to their squad, and the club remain engaged in renewing Vinicius jr.'s contract while competing with Barcelona for Rodri's signature. The transfer of Diomande forms part of Real's summer recruitment as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
