Rocky Flintoff hits maiden senior century as Lancashire post 443 for six in One-Day Cup

Rocky Flintoff scored 123 off 76 balls for Lancashire at Taunton in their One-Day Cup match against Somerset on Wednesday, August 11, 2026, registering his maiden senior century. Lancashire finished on 443 for six, the highest List A total in the county's history.

The 18-year-old, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, produced a blistering display of power-hitting, striking 10 fours and seven sixes after coming to the crease with Lancashire 138 for three. His innings featured a pattern of aggressive strokeplay that underpinned Lancashire's middle-order acceleration.

Flintoff played a key role in a 214-run partnership with Keaton Jennings and reached his century in just 65 balls. His clean hitting through the mid-wicket region drew comparisons with his father's strokeplay.

Keaton Jennings took advantage of a flat Taunton pitch and a Somerset attack depleted by call-ups to The Hundred, top-scoring with 156. There was another notable family connection in the Somerset lineup, with spinner Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, also featuring in the match.

Rocky Flintoff made history in 2024 as Lancashire's youngest-ever player when he debuted in the One-Day Cup aged 16 years and 113 days, a week after becoming the youngest player to score a century for England Under-19s. In January 2025, Flintoff surpassed his father's record to become the youngest centurion for the England Lions during a match against Cricket Australia.

Injury setbacks have intermittently slowed his progress: he missed the Under-19 World Cup last winter and withdrew from The Hundred in 2025 after signing for Northern Superchargers. After committing his future to Lancashire with a two-year contract extension in March, Flintoff returned to form through second XI fixtures and England Under-19 appearances before making his opportunity in the senior side count; prior to Wednesday he had posted scores of 33 not out, 41 not out, 34, 61 not out, 0 and 1 across six senior appearances this season.
