Ferran Torres missed Barcelona training on Wednesday after being given permission to finalise a move to Paris St-Germain. Torres, 26, scored an extra-time winner against Argentina to help Spain claim their second World Cup this summer.

Torres has made 207 appearances for Barcelona since signing from Manchester City in 2022, 94 (45%) of which were as a substitute. He only has one year left on his contract at Barcelona and some fans have been frustrated that the forward has spoken openly about the possibility of leaving the club. On a media tour of the United States following Spain's World Cup win, he said: "I have a contract with Barcelona but, in football, you never know." Asked directly about links with PSG, he added: "Every time these teams want you it's a good thing. "You never know because in football everything can change in one minute, so I have to be ready for everything."

The deal with PSG is likely to be worth more than £40m. PSG have won the Champions League in the past two seasons and are managed by former Barcelona coach and player Luis Enrique. The Parisians could lose Bradley Barcola this summer, with the forward wanted by Liverpool.

Torres has been at Barcelona since 2022 having previously spent two years at Manchester City. He has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.

PSG play in the Super Cup final against Aston Villa on Wednesday night in Salzburg.
