Tottenham agree loan deal for Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a loan deal to sign Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush in a transfer between the two clubs announced on 26 August 2026. The move brings the 27-year-old Egypt international to north London on a temporary basis.

Marmoush joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59m in January and scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for City across all competitions. He was a second-half substitute in City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat by Arsenal and an unused substitute in their Premier League opener, a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth.

The signing follows Spurs' recent capture of Savio from City after Tottenham paid an initial fee of £75m for the Brazilian on Tuesday. Tottenham have already spent more than £312m this summer and have also added Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, Sandro Tonali from Newcastle and Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton, while Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka arrived on free transfers.

Eight of Marmoush's 16 City goals came in 36 appearances in 2025-26, but his Premier League involvement dropped; he started only eight league games and played around 700 minutes. His league return was three goals and three assists and he registered a 3.53 expected goals figure, closely matching his actual scoring output.

At club level Marmoush has primarily operated as a number nine but has been deployed across the front line. At Eintracht Frankfurt he was used mostly through the middle while also featuring as a second striker and on the left, and City have similarly used him mainly centrally while also deploying him from the flank and just behind another forward; that flexibility could suit Spurs manager Roberto de Zerbi.

Marmoush faced stiff competition for minutes at City in a side built around Erling Haaland while City further strengthened their attacking options. Tottenham's forward group has its own issues: Dominic Solanke has suffered injury problems over the past 18 months and team-mate Richarlison is entering the final year of his contract.

The initial arrangement is a loan that includes an obligation to make the transfer permanent for £60m next summer.
