WPL 2027: Gujarat Giants retain 15 players, release four ahead of auction

Gujarat Giants published their list of retained and released players on September 28, 2026, ahead of the Women’s Premier League 2027 auction. The franchise retained 15 players and released four, with the released players set to enter the auction pool.

All five WPL franchises have completed retention ahead of the tournament’s fifth edition, which runs from January 14, 2027 to February 7. Teams decided which players would remain with their squads and which would be made available in the auction. The auction will give franchises another opportunity to adjust their rosters.

Gujarat Giants made fewer changes than some other teams, keeping most of their squad intact by retaining 15 players—the highest number among the five teams—and parting ways with four players.

Australian all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner and wicketkeeper-batter Beth Mooney will remain with Gujarat. New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine and Australian spinner Georgia Wareham are also among the retained overseas players.

The Indian players retained by Gujarat include Renuka Singh, Yastika Bhatia, Kashvee Gautam, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Tanuja Kanwer and Kanika Ahuja. Other names kept by the franchise include Anushka Sharma, Bharti Fulmali, Happy Kumari, Jintimani Kalita and Kim Garth.

Retained: Anushka Sharma, Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Bharti Fulmali, Georgia Wareham, Happy Kumari, Jintimani Kalita, Kanika Ahuja, Kashvee Gautam, Kim Garth, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Tanuja Kanwer, Yastika Bhatia.

Released: Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Ayushi Soni, Titas Sadhu, Shivani Singh. All four players will now be available in the auction pool.

The auction is scheduled to take place on October 28 in Kochi, where the franchises will look to fill the gaps in their teams.
