Asian Games 2026 Day 13: India to compete for golds in cricket, hockey and boxing

India will contest multiple gold medals at the Asian Games 2026 on October 2 as Day 13 of the competition begins, with the women’s hockey team and several boxers among those scheduled to fight for top honours.
After Day 12 produced historic medals in wrestling and sailing, India left that session without adding to its gold tally, taking two silver and four bronze medals on Thursday; Friday provides further chances for gold and for athletes to advance into finals. Several Indian competitors, including the women’s hockey squad and three boxers, are confirmed to be in gold-medal matches while others may join if they reach their respective finals.
The Indian women’s hockey team meet China — described in reports as World No. 4 and the defending champions — in the final, seeking the nation’s first hockey gold since 1982. India last reached the final in 2018 and finished with bronze four years later.
Boxers Lovlina Borgohain, Ankush Panghal and Parveen Hooda will all contest gold medals on Day 13, each aiming to become India’s first-ever Asian Games gold medallist in their specific category. The last Indian boxer to win an Asian Games gold was Mary Kom in 2014, while the last male to do so was Vijender Singh in 2010.
India’s recurve archery contingent — the men’s, women’s and mixed teams — are all attempting to reach finals and secure medals. The men’s volleyball team, having lost to Pakistan yesterday, return to action in a classification match against South Korea with the semi-finals no longer attainable and the aim of achieving the highest possible finish outside that stage. India’s freestyle wrestlers begin their campaign on Day 13 and will seek to match the two medals already won by the Greco-Roman wrestlers.
The Indian contingent will also compete in sailing, canoe slalom, taekwondo and sepaktakrow on Day 13. Archery, boxing, canoe/kayak, track cycling, hockey, sepak takraw, taekwondo, cricket and wrestling are listed as medal events offering opportunities for India on October 2.
Day 13 action for India starts at 5.30 AM with the Sepak Takraw women’s quadrant event, and the Indian team enters the day having clinched 66 medals in total — 10 Gold, 23 Silver, 33 Bronze Medals.
