Badminton at Asian Games 2026: schedule, squads and broadcast details
Badminton will be contested at the Asian Games 2026 from September 20 to 29 at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium, with a ten-day programme that includes team and individual competitions.
The programme features seven events: men’s and women’s team events, men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Defending individual champions named on entry lists include Li Shifeng (men’s singles), An Seyoung (women’s singles), Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (men’s doubles), Chen Qing Chen/Jia Yi Fan (women’s doubles) and Zheng Siwei Huang Yaqiong (mixed doubles); China are the reigning men’s team champions and Korea hold the women’s team title.
India’s squads include Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth and Tharun Mannepalli among the men, with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, Hariharan Amsakarunan, MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila also listed; the India women’s team comprises PV Sindhu, Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag, Tanvi Sharma, Isharani Baruah, Treesa Jolly, Gayatri Gopichand Pullela, Kavipriya Selvam, Simran Singhi and Tanisha Crasto.
Japan’s men’s contingent includes Kodai Naraoka, Kenta Nishimoto, Yushi Tanaka (team event only), Koki Watanabe (team event only), Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi and Hiroki Midorikawa/Kyohei Yamashita, while Japan’s women feature Akane Yamaguchi, Tomoka Miyazaki, Nozomi Okuhara, Riko Gunji, Yuki Fukushima/Mayu Matsumoto and Rena Miura/Moe Iwanaga. Indonesia’s men’s team lists Jonatan Christie, Alwi Farhan, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, Muhamad Yusuf, Fajar Alfian, Leo Rolly Carnando, Daniel Marthin, Nikolaus Joaquin and Amri Syahnawi; Indonesia’s women include Putri Kusuma Wardani, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari, Rachel Allessya Rose, Febi Setianingrum and Nita Violina Marwah.
Chinese Taipei’s entries list Chou Tien-chen, Lee Chia-hao, Lee Fang-chih/Lee Fang-jen and Chi Yu-jen in the men’s team and Chiu Pin-chian, Hsu Wen-chi, Hsu Ya-ching, Hsu Yin-hui, Lin Hsiang-ti, Lin Jhih-yun, Sung Shuo-yun, Sung Yu-hsuan, Yang Ching-tun and Chang Ching-hui in the women’s team. Malaysia’s men include Leong Jun Hao, Justin Hoh, Eogene Ewe, Kong Wei Xiang, Goh Sze Fei, Nur Izzuddin Rumsani, Aaron Chia and Tee Kai Wun; Malaysia’s women list Pearly Tan, M. Thinaah, Low Zi Yu, Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan, Cheng Su Hui, K. Letshanaa, Wong Ling Ching, Oo Shan Zi and Eng Ler Qi. Thailand’s men are named as Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul, Puritat Arree, Thongsa, Dechapol Puavaranukroh, Pakkapon Teeraratsakul, Perachai Khunpan and Rutnapak Oupthong, with the Thailand women’s team comprising Ratchanok Intanon, Busanan Ongbamrungphan, Pichamon Opatniputh, Li Meimiao, Supissara Paewsampran, Benyapa Aimsaard, Nuntakarn Aimsaard, Jenjira Stadelmann, Napapakorn and Hataitip.
The event schedule for the team competition runs through a sequence of rounds: 20th September — men’s and women’s team qualifying rounds; 21st September — men’s and women’s team preliminaries; 22nd September — team event quarterfinals; 23rd September — semi-finals of the team event; and 24th September — team event medal matches. Individual events include men’s singles, women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with rounds such as the Round of 16 and quarterfinals scheduled during the individual phase.
