India names 14-member cycling squad for Asian Games 2026 in Aichi‑Nagoya
India has named a 14-member cycling squad for the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, which will be held from September 19 to October 4. Several riders in the group bring continental medals and recent international experience.
India is one of 46 nations entered at the Asian Games; at the previous edition in Hangzhou the country collected 106 medals overall, but cycling did not produce a podium finish. Despite that outcome, India has selected a sizable and experienced contingent for the 19th Asian Games.
Ronaldo Laitonjam Singh, a four-time Asian Cycling Championships medallist, is aiming to bounce back and clinch his maiden Asian Games medal at Aichi‑Nagoya. He will be joined by David Beckham Elkatohchoongo, who represented India at the Commonwealth Games 2026, and both are entered in individual and team sprint events.
Three-time ACC Track Asia Cup silver medallist Harshveer Sekhon is entered in Keirin, Madison and Omnium events. Harshveer’s entries cover both sprint and endurance track formats listed for the tournament.
Harshita Jakhar, the first Indian cyclist to feature in the Tour de France Femmes, will compete in Madison, Omnium and Pursuit events. Her selection adds Grand Tour experience to India’s track and endurance line-up.
In India the Asian Games 2026 will be live-streamed on the SonyLIV app and website, with television coverage carried on the Sony Sports Network channels. Broadcasters will cover the cycling programme alongside other sports from Aichi‑Nagoya.
Cycling competition at the Asian Games begins on September 29 with team sprint and team pursuit qualifiers.
