India secure sepaktakraw medal after reaching men's quadrant semifinals in Nagoya

India were guaranteed a medal in the men's quadrant sepaktakraw at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya on Thursday after advancing to the semifinals with a 2-1 victory over Myanmar.
The Indian side maintained an unbeaten record in Group A to finish top of the pool after earlier wins over Laos and Vietnam. Their win over Vietnam was a 2-0 result with set scores of 15-12 and 15-9, recorded earlier in the day.
Against Myanmar, India dropped the opening set 10-15 before taking the next two sets 15-13 and 15-7 to clinch the tie 2-1. That result kept their group-stage run intact and secured progression to the knockout phase.
Indonesia finished on top of Group B, completing the other pool-winning side mentioned in the group stage coverage.
The semifinals are scheduled for Friday (October 2); by reaching that stage India are thus assured of at least a bronze medal.
