India to face Bangladesh in women's cricket semi-final at Asian Games 2026

India beat Japan by eight wickets at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin on September 18 to reach the women's cricket semi-final at the 2026 Asian Games.

The defending champions began their Asian Games campaign in the quarterfinals on Friday after arriving following a successful Women's Asia Cup campaign; Harmanpreet Kaur's side won the Asia Cup in Dubai last week, defeating Sri Lanka in the final, and entered Japan aiming to carry that form forward.

After winning the toss, India put hosts Japan into bat and bowled them out for 57 in 19.5 overs, with the Indian spin attack creating most of the trouble for the home side.

N. Shree Charani was the standout bowler for India, finishing with figures of 4/10 in four overs.

Shafali Verma contributed with both ball and bat, taking two wickets for 13 runs and then remaining unbeaten on 40 off just 15 balls as India reached 59/2 in five overs to complete an eight-wicket victory and secure a place in the last four.

Bangladesh have also progressed to the final four after their quarterfinal win, and India will meet Bangladesh in the women's cricket semi-final at the Asian Games 2026.

India will face Bangladesh in the semi-final on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
