India wins four golds on Day 11 as China extends lead at Asian Games 2026

India won four gold medals on Day 11 of the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya on September 30, with archery and shooting producing the bulk of the success; the results helped India rise to eighth place in the overall standings.

Archery provided three of India’s golds: the women’s compound team matched the world record 238 to beat China, Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav prevailed in the mixed compound team final in a shoot-off against South Korea, and the men’s compound team came from behind to defeat China 238-237. Neeru Dhanda paired with Kynan Chenai to secure the mixed trap team gold in shooting. India claimed seven medals on Day 11 — four golds and three bronzes.

India’s Day 11 medallists were listed as follows: Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep, Jyothi Surekha Vennam (Women’s Compound Team) – GOLD; Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Rajesh Jadhav (Mixed Compound Team) – GOLD; Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai (Mixed Trap Team) – GOLD; Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav, Ganesh Thirumuru (Men’s Compound Team) – GOLD; Priya Ghanghas (Boxing Women’s 60kg) – BRONZE; Kapil Pokhariya (Boxing Men’s 90kg) – BRONZE; Sumit Kumar (Men’s Greco-Roman 87kg) – BRONZE.

Another notable team result saw the India women’s hockey side beat South Korea 2-0 in the semi-final to reach the gold-medal match. Both the men’s and women’s squash teams won their quarter-finals to progress to the semi-finals, while tennis, track cycling and judo failed to deliver.

China continued to dominate in multiple disciplines: Lian Junjie won the men’s 10m platform ahead of Japan’s Rikuto Tamai and compatriot Renjie Zhao, and Chen Yiwen topped the women’s 3m springboard with Chen Jia second and Japan’s Sayaka Mikami third. In canoe slalom singles Huang Juan won the women’s event ahead of athletes from Thailand and Kazakhstan, while Hu Zhaoshan took the men’s kayak single with Japan’s Yuuki Tanaka and Kazakhstan’s Alexandr Korobov completing that podium.

China also beat Japan in both the women’s and men’s cycling track team pursuit finals, and in esports China defeated Japan 2-0 in the Identity V final. China surpassed the 150-gold mark during the Games.

Judo results on the opening day included Mitsuki Kondo winning the women’s -48kg and Hayato Kondo taking the men’s -60kg gold after defeating Kazakhstan’s Yeldos Smetov; Kazakhstan’s Abiba Abuzhakynova claimed silver in the women’s -48kg. Uzbekistan’s Abdurakhim Nutfullaev won silver in the men’s -66kg final to Mongolia’s Yolk Kazirbyek, and Sita Kadamboeva secured gold in the women’s -52kg.

Wrestling golds went to Iran’s Amin Mirzazadeh in Greco-Roman 130kg and Japan’s Taizo Yoshida in 87kg, while Uzbekistan’s Aytjan Khlmakhanov won the 67kg category and Japan’s Ami Ishii took the women’s 68kg title.

China extended its overall lead to 277 medals, including 151 golds. Japan sat second on 200 medals and South Korea third on 103; Uzbekistan remained fourth with 54 medals, with Thailand and Iran occupying fifth and sixth positions respectively and Bahrain seventh on 21 medals. India moved up to eighth with 60 medals while Kazakhstan dropped to ninth with 56.

India’s women’s hockey team will contest the gold-medal match following their 2-0 semi-final win, and both India’s men’s and women’s squash teams have advanced to the semi-finals.
