Hours after India coach Gautam Gambhir briefly inspected the Galle pitch with fellow coach Sitanshu Kotak, a lawn mower hit the surface during Sri Lanka's closed-door practice session.
Groundstaff worked extensively on the pitch.
The work on the surface could influence India’s choice between three spinners or three seamers, and rain remains a concern ahead of the Test. India will resume training Thursday after completing an intensive preparation camp in Colombo.
