Steve Smith was struck by a delivery during Australia's second innings, passed concussion tests and returned to the field in the Durban Test on the final day, the Times of India reported on 2026-10-13.
He had not fielded during South Africa’s innings on Day 4 and, after returning, took a catch to dismiss Kyle Verreynne.
South Africa resumed their chase needing 319 runs, with two wickets down by lunch, and the second Test of the series is set to begin on Sunday.
