India to open Day 6 of Asian Games 2026 with surfing and athletics on September 25

India begins Day 6 of the Asian Games 2026 on September 25, with its programme set to include surfing and athletics among the opening events.
The country moved closer to a 20-medal tally after securing five medals on Day 5, and the 499-member contingent has so far won 17 medals: 1 gold, 7 silvers and 9 bronzes. The sole gold to date was claimed by the women’s cricket team, while India’s athletics campaign started with Seema Kumari taking bronze and the mixed 4x400m relay team earning silver on the opening day.
Several Indian athletes are entered in athletics finals on Day 6: Gulveer Singh will contest the men’s 10,000m final; Manpreet Kaur and Krishna Jayasnakar Menon are in the women’s shot put final; and Baranica Elangoval and Sindhusree Ganesh will compete in the women’s pole vault final.
